Alfred Wallis Ekphrasis

The first two sentences of the poem are the painting’s title. Wallis was a Cornish ‘outsider’ artist and fisherman who painted these wonderful, flatly distributed landscapes; I saw the real thing at the Ulster Museum, Belfast.
